Foundation of Archeology of Photography

Archaeology of Photography Foundation (FAF) is the first institution in Poland to offer comprehensive photographic conservation services and preserve the archives of Polish photographers. It was established in 2008 and within a few years from its creation it provided services to the archives of Zbig- niew Dłubak, Zofia Chomętowska, Wojciech Zamecznik, Mariusz Hermanowicz, Tadeusz Sumiński and Maria Chrząszczowa. All the photographs are being organised and digit- ised and made available online.

The Foundation runs a gallery and manages various artistic, publishing and research projects. It provides photographic digitisa- tion service and educational services includ- ing workshops on history of photography and preventive conservation seminars.

Many works from the collections under the Foundation’s supervision have been exhib- ited during the Fotoespaňa Festival in Madrid, in National Gallery of Art Zacheta, Krolikarnia Gallery (Warsaw), National History Museum in Minsk, Belarus. They are also included in the collections of Tate Modern in London and Centre Pompidou in Paris. The Foundation has received a prize granted by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in 2013.
